Use of DataEstablished in 1968 in collaboration with the Bombay Union of Journalists, the Mumbai Press Club claims to uphold the highest standards of professional integrity and skill in news reporting. It regularly hosts events, panel discussions, and workshops that feature notable figures in journalism, politics, and other fields. These events foster dialogue and exchange of ideas, contributing to the enrichment of the media community. The club plays an active role in advocating for press freedom and the rights of journalists.
Members include many of Mumbai’s most lauded journalists: Siddharth Varadarajan, founding editor of The Wire; Naresh Fernandes, founding editor-publisher of Scroll.in; Sandra Vos, chair of journalism program at St Xavier's College; independent journalists Kalpana Sharma and Ammu Joseph; former BBC and Times of India journalist Sagarika Ghose; and international journalist Barkha Dutt are members of the club.
