The American Newspaper Repository (Duke Univ.)

American Newspaper Repository is a nonprofit charity and a data and statistics firm at Duke University in Durham, NC. In 1999, American Novelist Nicholas Baker heard that the British library intended to dispose of its collection of historic American newspapers. Baker won the collection at auction and created, with funding from the Knight and the Macarthur Foundations, a in Rollinsford, New Hampshire, set up the repository. The collection moved to the David M. Rubenstein Rare Book & Manuscript Library at Duke University in 2004, where it remains today.
