The New Times (Rwanda). BBC journalist Mark Doyle who reported on Genocide against the Tutsi dies at 67

The veteran BBC Africa correspondent died after a short illness; he joined the BBC in 1986, became East Africa correspondent in 1993, and made his name covering the 1994 genocide. For a time he was the only foreign journalist in Rwanda during the genocide, and he later covered Sierra Leone's civil war and Liberia's post-war period as West Africa correspondent from 1997 to 2002.

Legacy.com. John Baer, a longtime Pennsylvania political journalist, dies at 79.

Mr. Baer covered state government for the Philadelphia Daily News for about a dozen years, then wrote a column for the paper for another 20 years.

Le360. Moroccan journalist Hamid Barrada dies at 87

The Moroccan journalist died early Saturday, Sept. 26, at 87. He hosted the 2M program "Mais encore" from 2007 to 2018 and left a lasting mark on Moroccan and French media.

The victims aboard the chopper were identified as journalist Eliana Moreno and pilot George Marciniw. One of the deceased was on the ground at the time of the crash, officials said.

For two hours on April 22, rescuers waited five miles away from where Lebanese journalist Amal Khalil was taking refuge, injured and bleeding but still alive inside a building that had been leveled by an Israeli airstrike.

Reed in particular blended his sharp wit with a seeming nostalgia for Hollywood’s Golden Age, using it to both skewer and worship throughout the course of his lengthy career.

Sheehan began his professional career as a journalist, working for Connecticut newspapers. He moved to Washington, DC, in the late 1950s and served as deputy world news editor for The Associated Press. He joined the administration of President John F Kennedy in 1961, serving in the US Department of Treasury as speechwriter for Secretary Douglas Dillon.

NY Post. Longtime St. Louis journalist killed in freak accident after tires fall from tractor-trailer, strike his car

Local media mainstay Ray Hartmann, 73, was driving in St. Louis when two tires went airborne after zooming off a tractor-trailer ahead of him and struck the roof of his car. Hartmann died at the scene, according to a statement issued by his friend and attorney, Andy Leonard.

NYT. Ronald Smothers, NYTimes reporter who covered protest and politics, dies at 79

In a career that included 35 years at The New York Times, he chronicled the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s 1984 presidential run and the bombing at the 1996 Olympics in Atlanta.

Netanyahu claims the military will conduct an investigation into the killings, however critics, including The AP and Reuters, claim Israel lacks the “willingness and ability to investigate itself in past incidents to rarely result in clarity and action,” after past investigations have failed to enact sanctions for the guilty parties. As a major contributor to Las Vegas Magazine, Kelemen wrote hundreds of pieces on the city, covering cultural and musical events, as well as celebrity profiles. He knew all things Vegas.
