WSIL-TV (channel 3), licensed to Harrisburg, Illinois, is the ABC affiliate for southern Illinois, southeast Missouri, and the Purchase area of western Kentucky, with studios in Carterville, Illinois. It operates full-time satellite station KPOB-TV in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and is owned by Gray Media alongside CBS/CW affiliate KFVS-TV.
WSIL-TV signed on December 6, 1953, as the first television station in southern Illinois, built by the Turner-Farrar Association. The station moved from UHF channel 22 to VHF channel 3 in 1959. Mel Wheeler, Inc. purchased the station in 1983, and the Wheeler family moved WSIL's studios to their current Carterville location in April 1989. Quincy Media acquired WSIL and KPOB in a $24.5 million deal that closed January 15, 2019. Allen Media Group acquired the station in 2021. Gray Media acquired WSIL as part of a multi-station transaction with Allen Media that received final FCC and Department of Justice approval and closed in 2026.
