Use of DataThe Writers Guild of America West (WGAW) is the west coast arm of the Writers Guild of America (the other arm being the Writers Guild of America East, in New York city). It is a labor union representing writers in the US west coast entertainment industry.
Founded in 1954, the Guild negotiates and administers contracts to protect creative and economic rights of members. They are involved in various programs advancing the interests of writers, actively participating in public policy and legislative matters. The WGAW is affiliated with AFL/CIO and the International Affiliation of Writers Guilds.
