Washington Newsmedia, LLC publishes the Washington Daily News, a daily community newspaper serving Washington, North Carolina, along with The Scuppernong Reminder, a weekly serving Tyrrell County, and Washington the Magazine, a lifestyle publication.
Washington Newsmedia was formed in 2010, majority owned by Boone Newspapers, Inc. (BNI) and BNI's then-president and chief operating officer Todd H. Carpenter, to acquire the Washington Daily News from the Futrell family, which had published the paper since 1949. As part of a June 2024 restructuring between BNI and Carpenter Media Group, BNI acquired full ownership of Washington Newsmedia.
The Futrell family sold the Washington Daily News to the newly formed Washington Newsmedia, LLC in September 2010. BNI took full ownership of the company in June 2024.
