Overview

Vogue is a monthly American fashion magazine covering style, beauty, culture and runway coverage, published by Condé Nast. It publishes 25 international editions, 11 of them directly by Condé Nast.

History

Vogue was founded by Arthur Baldwin Turnure as a weekly society journal, with its first issue published December 17, 1892, in New York. Following Turnure's death in 1906, the magazine's majority ownership passed to Marie Harrison, and in 1909 the Vogue Company was acquired by publisher Condé Montrose Nast, who built it into the foundation of Condé Nast Publications, incorporated in 1922. Vogue moved from weekly to bimonthly publication in 1910 and became a monthly in 1973. Anna Wintour served as editor-in-chief from 1988 to 2025; in September 2025 Chloe Malle was named her successor as head of editorial content, while Wintour took on the roles of Global Chief Content Officer and Global Editorial Director across Condé Nast titles. Beginning in 2026, Vogue publishes eight issues per year.
