Vanity Fair is an American monthly magazine covering popular culture, fashion and current affairs, published by Condé Nast, with international editions in the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain and France.
Condé Nast launched a men's fashion magazine called Dress in 1913, renaming it Dress and Vanity Fair and then simply Vanity Fair. The magazine folded into Vogue in March 1936 amid the Great Depression. Condé Nast, then owned by S.I. Newhouse, revived Vanity Fair in 1983; its first issue under editor Richard Locke appeared that February. Subsequent editors included Tina Brown (1984-1992) and Graydon Carter (1992-2017). Radhika Jones, previously editorial director of the books department at The New York Times, was named editor-in-chief in November 2017 and began the role that December, succeeding Carter. Vanity Fair employees unionized in 2022. Jones announced her departure in April 2025; Mark Guiducci, formerly creative editorial director of Vogue, succeeded her as editor-in-chief in June 2025.
