Alamosa, Colorado, USA
The Valley Courier is a daily newspaper serving Alamosa, Colorado, and the San Luis Valley, covering local news, agriculture, sports and community events across six counties.
The paper traces its roots to the San Luis Valley Courier, first published in 1889 by John M. Howrey & Co. It operated under the Tompkins family's News Media Corporation for more than 30 years as part of a Colorado cluster of publications including the Monte Vista Journal, The Del Norte Prospector and The Conejos County Citizen. News Media Corporation sold its Colorado newspaper cluster, including the Valley Courier, to Louie Mullen. As of 2026, the Valley Courier and the San Luis Valley Journal announced they were combining operations to create a single newspaper covering all six San Luis Valley counties.
The Valley Courier publishes under the Alamosa News brand alongside its sister weekly publications, providing the primary daily news source for the San Luis Valley region.
