Yangon, Myanmar (online only)
The University of Yangon Library's E-Library and Institutional Repository is the digital library service and open-access resource portal of the University of Yangon (UY), Myanmar's oldest and most prominent university. This digital service provides UY students, faculty, and external researchers with online access to electronic resources, databases, and the university's own scholarly output.
The University of Yangon, founded in 1920, is the country's premier higher education institution. The UY Library has long served as the central repository for academic resources at the university. The E-Library service was developed to provide broader online access to the library's resources and to connect with international open-access platforms.
The E-Library service provides access to over 40 databases offering more than 140,000 e-books and 12,000 scholarly journals covering social sciences and natural sciences, made accessible through partnerships with the Open Access Foundation and Electronic Information for Libraries (EIFL). The institutional search tool allows unified searching across all available resources. The University of Yangon Repository (UYR), accessible separately, specifically provides access to scholarship produced by UY faculty and students.
The E-Library is accessible remotely via the University of Yangon website. The library also maintains 20 desktop computers and over 25 laptops for on-site use, along with Wi-Fi access. The Reference Service provides research assistance in person and via email and phone. Access to many resources is open; some databases may require institutional credentials.
