Gainesville, Florida, United States
The University of Florida is a public land-grant research university in Gainesville, Florida.
Journalism at the University of Florida is housed in the College of Journalism and Communications (CJC), a full college of the university rather than a subunit of a broader school. CJC offers bachelor's degrees in advertising, journalism, public relations, and telecommunication, along with master's and doctoral degrees in mass communication.
The university traces its origins to 1853 and the East Florida Seminary in Ocala, one of several predecessor institutions consolidated under the state's 1905 Buckman Act to form the University of the State of Florida. The consolidated university moved to its present Gainesville campus in 1906 and was renamed the University of Florida in 1909.
