The Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Institutional Repository (UTM-IR) is the digital repository of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), a leading public research university founded in 1904 in what is now Johor Bahru, Malaysia. UTM has two main campuses: the main campus in Skudai (Iskandar Puteri), Johor Bahru—covering 1,222 hectares and located 18 km from Sultan Ismail Airport—and a campus in Kuala Lumpur. The UTM-IR was registered in the Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR) in June 2007 and is powered by EPrints 3 software, developed by the University of Southampton. It is managed by the UTM Library.
UTM-IR centralizes, collects, preserves, and provides open access to the intellectual and research output of the UTM academic community. Holdings include journal articles (pre-prints and post-prints), theses and dissertations, conference and workshop papers, books and book chapters, reports, working papers, lecture materials, learning objects, and administrative documents. The repository covers all major disciplines taught and researched at UTM, with particular strength in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, health sciences, arts, humanities, and social sciences. The UTM Library is responsible for archiving, managing, and disseminating repository content.
UTM-IR is accessible online at eprints.utm.my and supports OAI 2.0 metadata harvesting. Access is open to all users without registration. Depositors (staff and postgraduate researchers) access the system through a separate deposit portal. The UTM Library provides training and support for repository deposits.
