History and Founding

Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), established in 1949, is one of Indonesia's oldest and most prestigious public universities, located in Yogyakarta. UGM's Library and Archives manages several digital repositories to support research and open access. The UGM Institutional Repository (ir.lib.ugm.ac.id) is powered by EPrints 3 software and serves as a general-purpose repository for the university's scholarly output. Separate from the ETD (Electronic Theses and Dissertations) repository, the institutional repository collects a wide range of academic publications, research papers, and institutional documents.

Collections and Holdings

The UGM Institutional Repository holds research publications, seminar proceedings, professor inaugural speeches, research reports, and other scholarly outputs produced by the UGM academic community. The library also manages a notable Hatta Collection, comprising the personal books and journals of Mohammad Hatta, Indonesia's first Vice President, which covers political science, economics, social sciences, literature, and education in multiple languages. A separate Rare Collection is also maintained. The overall UGM Library system holds approximately 64 dedicated computer stations for ETD access, an extensive e-resources portfolio including ProQuest, EBSCO, ScienceDirect, Springer, and other major databases, and an integrated catalog (OPAC) covering all campus libraries.

Access and Usage

The repository is accessible online at ir.lib.ugm.ac.id and supports OAI 2.0 metadata harvesting. For queries, users may contact the repository team at datacenter@ugm.ac.id. The physical UGM Library and Archives is located in the central campus in Yogyakarta and offers onsite and remote access to digital collections through single sign-on for registered members.
