The UNIMAS Institutional Repository is the open-access digital repository of Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS), Malaysia's eighth public university and the first in Sarawak. The repository is managed by the Perpustakaan Tun Abdul Rahman Ya'kub (PeTARY), UNIMAS's main library, and is powered by EPrints software. It serves as the primary platform for collecting, preserving, and disseminating the intellectual and research output of the university.
UNIMAS was established in 1992 as Sarawak's first public university. The institutional repository was formally registered with the Registry of Open Access Repositories (ROAR) in September 2014, running on EPrints version 3.3. The university, located in Kota Samarahan on the island of Borneo, is ideally positioned to support research into the region's diverse biological, cultural, and linguistic heritage.
The repository stores the research output of UNIMAS faculty and students, including:
Holdings are indexed by Google Scholar, Scopus, ISI Web of Science, and the ERA (Excellence in Research for Australia) framework, as well as aggregated in the Malaysian Academic Library Repositories network. The repository is accessible to the public for browsing and metadata retrieval; full-text access may be subject to publisher restrictions.
The UNIMAS Institutional Repository is freely accessible online at ir.unimas.my. Users can browse content by year, subject, department, and author. The OAI-PMH interface enables metadata harvesting by external services. PeTARY also provides bibliometric services, institutional membership in open-access publishing platforms (including Springer Nature and Wiley Open Access), and consultation on publication strategy.
