Use of DataThe Toronto Sun, is an English-language tabloid daily newspaper published in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The paper is one of PostMedia Network's several published tabloids. Founded in 1971 after it acquired the assets (and some of the staff) the defunct Toronto Telegram (a conservative-leaning broadsheet). In 1978 Toronto Sun Holdings and Toronto Sun Publishing combined to form Sun Publishing, later known as Sun Media Corporation. That company went on to publish other papers, similar in form to The Toronto Sun, in the 1970s and 1980s.
In 1978, Toronto Sun Holdings and Toronto Sun Publishing were consolidated to form Sun Publishing. The corporation launched The Edmonton Sun in 1978. The Albertan became the company's third tabloid in 1980, renamed The Calgary Sun. The paper acquired a television station from Craig Media in 2005 named Sun TV. It ceased broadcasting in 2015.
