Tom Reichert is dean of the College of Information and Communications at the University of South Carolina, which includes the School of Journalism and Mass Communications and the School of Library and Information Science. He earned a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri and a master's degree and Ph.D. in communication from the University of Arizona. Before joining USC in 2017, Reichert was professor and head of the Department of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Georgia's Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication, where he held the UGA Athletic Association Professorship in Advertising Information; he had earlier held faculty positions at the University of Alabama and the University of North Texas. His research examines advertising and media content and effects, and he has written or edited several books on the subject, including The Erotic History of Advertising and Sex in Advertising: Perspectives on the Erotic Appeal. He served as the 2017-18 president-elect of the American Academy of Advertising.
