The Southwest Times Record is a daily newspaper published in Fort Smith, Arkansas, covering Sebastian County and a historical circulation footprint of counties in western Arkansas and eastern Oklahoma.
The paper traces its roots to three separate publications: the Fort Smith Times (founded December 1884), the Fort Smith News Record (founded 1893) and the Southwest American (founded 1907). The Times and News Record merged in 1909 to form the Fort Smith Times Record. In 1940, Donald W. Reynolds purchased the Times Record and the American, later merging them into the single Southwest Times Record in 1969, marking the start of the Donrey Media Group. The paper passed to Stephens Media Group in the early 2000s and was sold to New Media Investment Group in 2015, which merged with Gannett Co. in 2019. It is currently owned and published by Gannett/USA Today Network.
