Living on Earth (NPR) — Founding Producer and Editor
Peter Thomson is an environmental journalist and radio producer based in Boston who has covered the environment for more than 20 years. He was a founding producer and editor of NPR's environmental news program Living on Earth, where he reported on and edited series including a documentary on Alaska's oil industry, a five-part series on water conflicts in the Middle East, and a report on the environmental legacy of the California Gold Rush. Since 2008 he has headed environmental coverage for PRI's The World, commissioning and editing series on climate change research in the Arctic and Greenland and reporting on Antarctic ice sheets. He is the author of Sacred Sea: A Journey to Lake Baikal (Oxford University Press, 2007), an account of the world's largest and deepest lake. He serves on the executive committee of the Society of Environmental Journalists and has judged the Covering Climate Now journalism awards.
