Them is an online LGBTQ magazine covering culture, fashion and politics. It was owned by Condé Nast until February 2026, when it was acquired by Equalpride, publisher of Out, The Advocate and Pride.com.
Them launched in October 2017 after Phillip Picardi, then digital editorial director of Teen Vogue, proposed the idea to Condé Nast artistic director Anna Wintour. It was Condé Nast's first new media platform since Portfolio magazine in 2007. Founding editors included Meredith Talusan, Tyler Ford and James Clarizio; all had left by 2019, when Whembley Sewell became executive editor. Sarah Burke became editor-in-chief in October 2021 and later hosted the Them Now Awards, launched in 2022 to honor LGBTQ people. Fran Tirado, a former Netflix staffer, became editor-in-chief around March 2025. In February 2026, Equalpride acquired Them from Condé Nast, a week after Equalpride laid off a number of staff at its other publications, including The Advocate's editor-in-chief.
