Farmington, Maine, USA
The Franklin Journal is a print and digital community newspaper covering Farmington, Wilton, Kingfield, Rangeley and other towns in Franklin County, Maine. It is published as part of the Lewiston Sun Journal's group of Maine weekly newspapers.
The paper's own social channels date its lineage to 1840. It operated for decades as part of Kirkland Newspapers of Farmington before the Lewiston Sun Journal purchased Kirkland's weekly titles, including the Franklin Journal, on Oct. 1, 2007. The Sun Journal's parent, Sun Media Group, was sold by the Costello family to Reade Brower's RFB Holdings/MaineToday Media in 2017; in 2023 Brower sold Sun Media Group, MaineToday Media and Alliance Press to the nonprofit National Trust for Local News, which now operates the titles as the Maine Trust for Local News.
Ongoing local coverage of RSU 9 school district matters and Franklin County town governance; contributes to the Sun Journal's "Franklin Now" community newsletter.
