The Daily Record is a seven-day morning daily newspaper serving the greater Morris County area of northern New Jersey, part of the USA Today Network and based in Parsippany-Troy Hills.
The paper was founded by husband-and-wife team Ernest and Mary Tomlinson, who published its first edition on June 25, 1900, as the Morristown Record. The Tomlinson family owned the paper for nine decades until selling it to the Goodson Newspaper Group in 1987 (sources vary slightly on the exact year, with some citing 1989); Gannett purchased the paper from Goodson in 1998. Following Gannett's 2016 acquisition of North Jersey Media Group, the Daily Record's operations were merged into that group.
The paper covers Morris County government, schools, and community news, and launched its first Sunday edition in 1973.
The Daily Record is available in print and online through the USA Today Network's digital subscription platform.
