Boston, Massachusetts (digital)
Globe Opinion is the editorial and commentary division of The Boston Globe, operating separately from the newspaper's news operation. It publishes editorials representing the Globe's institutional views, op-eds from columnists and outside contributors, the Ideas section, letters, and editorial cartoons.
Globe Opinion's editorial board is led by editorial page editor James Dao. Prior editorial page editors have included Bina Venkataraman, who served from 2019 to 2022 after succeeding Ellen Clegg. Globe editorial board positions and candidate endorsements are made independently of the newsroom, without consultation with reporters covering the topics involved, a separation intended to protect the integrity of both departments.
Globe Opinion publishes op-eds, staff columns, the Ideas section (edited by Brian Bergstein), letters to the editor, and unsigned editorials representing the Globe Editorial Board's positions on policy and public affairs.
Globe Opinion content is published at bostonglobe.com/opinion, accessible as part of a Boston Globe digital subscription; the section accepts unsolicited op-ed submissions of up to 700 words.
