The Binkley Company is privately owned by the Binkley family — including Ryan Binkley, Kai Binkley Sims, Wade Binkley, and James Binkley — a Fairbanks riverboat-tourism family with roots dating back more than a century.
The Binkley Company purchased the bankrupt Alaska Dispatch News for $1 million in 2017 and restored the Anchorage Daily News name. In 2018 it acquired the Alaska Journal of Commerce, Chugiak-Eagle River Star, and Alaskan Equipment Trader from Morris Communications. In 2019 it acquired the Arctic Sounder, Bristol Bay Times/Dutch Harbor Fisherman, and Homer Tribune from Alaska Media LLC, then owned by Jason Evans.
