The NCL Taiwan Periodical Literature system (formerly known as PerioPath: Index to Taiwan Periodical Literature System) is an online bibliographic database maintained by the National Central Library (國家圖書館) of Taiwan. It serves as the most comprehensive index of academic and general periodical literature published in Taiwan, covering all subject fields.
The database provides citations and, for open-access materials, full texts of Chinese- and Western-language journal articles primarily published in Taiwan, with some coverage of Hong Kong and Macau publications. Coverage extends back to 1970, with selective earlier materials also indexed. The system additionally indexes a Modern (1853–1979) Hong Kong and Macau periodical index, an NCL China Periodical Literature index, and a directory of Taiwan periodicals.
Users worldwide may freely access citations. Full-text articles are available for download where open-access agreements with authors or publishers have been obtained. For digitized materials without such agreements, on-site access at the National Central Library in Taipei is required. Some institutions access the system via EZproxy. The system is available at tpl.ncl.edu.tw/NclService/.
TPL is one of approximately 60 databases constructed by the National Central Library. It complements other NCL systems including the National Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations in Taiwan (NDLTD), Taiwan Memory, the Taiwan eBook platform, and the DAVA digital audio-visual archive. The NCL is located at No. 20, Zhongshan South Road, Zhongzheng District, Taipei.
