Overview

The Survey Research Data Archive (SRDA) is a research data repository operated by the Center for Survey Research (CSR) at the Research Center for Humanities and Social Sciences (RCHSS), Academia Sinica, in Taipei, Taiwan. It is the leading social science data archive in Taiwan and one of the most prominent in Asia.

History and Founding

The SRDA was founded in 1994 and launched its English-language website in 1998. It was the first data archive in Taiwan to receive the CoreTrustSeal certification for trustworthy digital repositories, obtaining this recognition in 2019. The SRDA also holds ISO 27001 certification for information security management.

Collections and Holdings

The SRDA acquires, develops, preserves, and disseminates academic survey research data from Taiwan. As of recent counts, the archive holds more than 2,600 datasets covering sociology, economics, political science, education, management, public health, regional studies, sports, and fine arts. Key collections include the Taiwan Social Image Survey, Taiwan's Election and Democratization Studies (TEDS), the Manpower Utilization Survey, and various public opinion polls. Data comes from academic researcher donations, research projects conducted by CSR, and surveys funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology.

Access and Usage

Membership in the SRDA is free. Registered members may search datasets, browse questionnaires, frequency tables, and reports, and download most datasets directly. Some datasets with restricted access require additional application. The archive serves academic researchers, students, and educational users in Taiwan and internationally.

International Standing

The SRDA is a member of the Network of Asian Social Science Data Archives (NASSDA) and maintains cooperative relationships with Japan's Social Science Japan Data Archive (SSJDA) and Korea's KOSSDA. It is covered by the Clarivate Data Citation Index and is a regular member of the ICSU World Data System (WDS).
