Sullivan Daily Times is the only newspaper in Sullivan County, Indiana, covering Sullivan and the surrounding county. It is independently owned.
Traces to the Sullivan Democrat, founded in 1854, a year after Sullivan was incorporated as a town. Paul Poynter established the Sullivan Daily Times in 1905 as the Democrat's daily edition. Eleanor Jamison and her daughters, Mary Alice Griffin and Anne Parker, sold their interests in the Times and the Sullivan Union to Rex E. Pierce's Pierce Oil Company Inc. in 1972; Pierce died in 1981, passing ownership to his wife Sarah Jane Organ Pierce (later Geitz) and children Nancy Pierce (later Gettinger) and David Pierce. James Exline and Gillian Kelk purchased the paper from Tom P. and Nancy Gettinger in 2015. The paper moved to its current location, 31 W. Jackson St., in February 2021.
