The State Archives of the City of Kyiv (Ukrainian: Державний архів міста Києва) is a regional state archive serving as a structural subdivision of the Kyiv Municipal State Administration. It operates under the authority of the Kyiv Municipal Council and the State Archival Service of Ukraine, storing documents relating to the history of Kyiv from the seventeenth century to the present day.
The archive's organizational status as a structural subdivision of the Kyiv Municipal State Administration was formalized by a decision of the Kyiv Municipal Council on Deputies (No. 584/744) on 10 July 2003. Its collections incorporate records accumulated over several decades of Soviet-era archival administration. The archive is located at Oleny Telihy Street 23 in Kyiv.
The archive stores documentary materials spanning from the seventeenth to the twenty-first century. Its holdings include records of higher and secondary educational establishments (universities, technical schools, colleges, and other institutions), health care and social security bodies, judicial organizations, public organizations, and personal documentary collections. Among the personal collections are documents of noted Ukrainian scientists, university rectors, and public figures. Industrial and enterprise records, including those of major Kyiv factories and production associations, form another significant category of holdings.
The archive maintains collections reflecting Kyiv's cultural, educational, and industrial history, including records from institutions such as Kyiv Polytechnic Institute and other major universities, and documents of prominent Ukrainians including scientists and cultural figures. The archive operates an e-archive portal providing digital access to selected collections.
Researchers and members of the public may access the archive's holdings through its reading room. An electronic archive (e-archive) is accessible online via the archive's official website, providing digital access to portions of the collection relevant to Kyiv's history, including materials relating to the Chornobyl disaster.
