Cardiff, Wales, United Kingdom
The University of South Wales (USW) offers a BJTC-accredited BA (Hons) Journalism degree, along with BA (Hons) Media, Culture and Journalism and BA (Hons) Sports Journalism, taught at its Cardiff Campus rather than through a standalone journalism school.
The Journalism degree, accredited by the Broadcast Journalism Training Council (BJTC), covers print, radio, TV, and web reporting through lectures, workshops, and newsday simulations, including an annual police press conference. Three weeks of work experience are built into the course. The Sports Journalism degree draws on Cardiff's sports venues, including Principality Stadium and Cardiff City Stadium, and partners with outlets such as Sky Sports News, Wales Online, and BBC Wales.
The University of South Wales was formed on April 11, 2013, from the merger of the University of Glamorgan and the University of Wales, Newport. Its Cardiff Campus is based at the ATRiuM building, originally opened by the University of Glamorgan in 2007 and extended and reopened in September 2016.
