Adelaide, South Australia, Australia
The University of South Australia (UniSA) offers a Bachelor of Journalism and a combined Bachelor of Journalism and Professional Writing/Bachelor of Arts, which UniSA describes as South Australia's only practice-based journalism and professional writing degree. A pathway combining the journalism degree with a Master of Communication is also offered.
Students research and report stories across written, audio, and visual mediums, including virtual and augmented reality, using on-campus television and radio studios. Students gain practical experience contributing to the student publications On the Record and Verse and the internet radio station UniCast, and can enter South Australian journalism, editing, and creative writing awards.
As of late 2025, the University of Adelaide and the University of South Australia combined to create a new institution, Adelaide University. From August 4, 2025, both legacy universities stopped accepting new-student applications, with new students applying to Adelaide University beginning in 2026; UniSA continued serving currently enrolled and graduating students through the transition period into 2026.
On the Record and Verse (online student publications) and UniCast (internet radio station).
