Biography

Hugues Simard is chief financial officer of Quebecor Inc., the Canadian telecommunications, media, and sports and entertainment company, a position he has held since January 2019. He holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and a bachelor's degree in applied science and engineering from the University of Toronto, and began his career in mergers and acquisitions at Burns Fry (now BMO) before working at First Marathon (now National Bank) and as managing director of Secor Consulting's Paris office. Simard joined Quebecor in July 1998 and over nearly 20 years held a series of roles across its subsidiaries, including business development for Quebecor Printing and Quebecor New Media, president and CEO of the publicly listed Netgraphe from 2000 to 2003, president of Quebecor World's Commercial Printing Group, vice president of finance and CFO of Sun Media Corporation from 2007 to 2014, senior vice president of development and strategy for Quebecor Media, and senior vice president and CFO of Videotron from 2014 to 2017. During this period, he created QMI Agency, an integrated internal news wire service, in 2009-2010, and built QMI Sales, an integrated national sales force for Quebecor Media, from 2007 to 2009. Between June 2017 and his return to Quebecor, he served as executive vice president and CFO of Indigo Books & Music Inc. in Toronto.
