Sky News - Founding Team Member (1989)
Channel 5 News - Launch Executive (1997)
Chris Shaw is a British news executive whose career at the news producer ITN spanned 40 years before his departure in 2023. He was part of the team that helped Rupert Murdoch launch Sky News in 1989 and, nearly a decade later, performed a similar role in launching Channel 5 News, now owned by Paramount. His work on Channel 4 News included the 2011 BAFTA-nominated documentary Sri Lanka's Killing Fields, which he said helped mobilize international opinion on the Sri Lankan civil war, and the ITV documentary Harry & Meghan: An African Journey, in which Meghan Markle first publicly discussed the intense media scrutiny of her marriage in an interview with Tom Bradby. He helped draft ITN's social media editorial guidelines and was a frequent commentator on UK broadcast impartiality standards and the regulatory landscape for newer entrants such as GB News.
