Positive News - founder and editor-in-chief (1993-2012)
Shauna Crockett-Burrows (June 1, 1930 - May 3, 2012) was the British founder and longtime editor-in-chief of Positive News, the world's first newspaper dedicated to reporting on positive social and environmental change. Born in Brighton, England, she worked earlier as an actress with the Children's Film Foundation and as a model before settling in Shoreham-by-Sea, West Sussex, where she promoted local artists and led a successful campaign, Save Our Saltings, against a proposed road development. She later worked for the Arts Council and founded the Shoreham Youth Workshop in 1970. Following a formative visit to the Findhorn Foundation, a spiritual and sustainable community in Scotland, Crockett-Burrows launched Positive News in 1993 at age 63 as a quarterly newspaper distributed free to cafes, shops and public spaces; circulation reached 50,000 copies by 1995. She remained editor-in-chief of the publication until her death in Shropshire in 2012, a month before her 82nd birthday, having gradually handed over leadership to her successor, Sean Wood.
