The National Library of Seychelles is the national public library of the Republic of Seychelles, located in Victoria, Mahé, on Rue de La Possession. The library is headed by Mrs. Anne-Mary Robert and operates under government supervision, providing public library services to the people of Seychelles.
The National Library of Seychelles traces its origins to 1910, when library services were first established in the country. The institution has been housed in various buildings over its history, including a shared facility with the National Archives until the late 20th century. It was known as the Carnegie Library in its earlier incarnation before transitioning to its current designation.
The library holds a broad general collection including materials on Seychellois history, culture, and society, as well as reference works, fiction and nonfiction for all ages, and periodicals. It serves as a legal deposit library and supports literacy and reading promotion across the islands.
The library is open Monday through Friday 08:30–17:00 and Saturday 08:30–13:00, and is closed on Sundays. It provides free public access to its collections and offers reference services for researchers and general users.
