Atideb Sarkar is the chief editor and publisher of India's ABP Group, the Kolkata-based media conglomerate whose publications include Anandabazar Patrika and The Telegraph and whose television arm, ABP News Network, operates channels including ABP News, ABP Ananda, ABP Majha and ABP Asmita. The son of Arup Sarkar and great-great-grandson of ABP founder Prafulla Kumar Sarkar, he began his career at the company in November 2010 as a newsdesk trainee at The Telegraph, following an internship at the Financial Times in London. He went on to hold roles including Manager of Finance, General Manager of Strategy and Associate Vice President of Strategy, becoming Executive Director in 2015, a role in which he was responsible for shaping the company's television division and expanding its digital presence, including the launch of the ABP Desam and ABP Nadu regional-language news websites. In July 2021, he was appointed chief editor and publisher of ABP Private Limited, formally taking over the company's editorial and business operations from his father, who moved into an advisory role described by the company as "nestor." He holds a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Economics from the University of Warwick, an M.Sc. in Economics from University College London and an MBA from Imperial College London, and has completed the Senior Executive Programme at London Business School and the Owner/President Management Program at Harvard Business School.
