Biography

Gary Wayne Rust II is a son of Gary W. Rust, founder of Rust Communications, the Cape Girardeau, Missouri-based media company whose flagship publication is the Southeast Missourian. He has served as director of rustmedia, the digital marketing and social media division of Rust Communications, advising businesses on integrating social media into broader marketing strategies. Following his father's death in January 2025, his obituary noted that each of Gary W. Rust's children worked in the family media business at one time or another as the company grew to 50 newspapers across eight states.
