Biography

Susan Richards is a British writer and journalist who co-founded openDemocracy in 2001 and served as founder editor of its Russia section, openDemocracy Russia. She is the author of Epics of Everyday Life: Encounters in a Changing Russia (1990), which won the PEN Time-Life Award for Non-Fiction and the Yorkshire Post Best First Work Award, and Lost and Found in Russia (2009), both drawing on her extensive reporting from post-Soviet Russia. Her journalism and essays on Russia and the former Soviet Union have appeared in Foreign Affairs and other publications. She lives in London.
