ResearchSpace@Auckland is the institutional open-access digital repository of the University of Auckland, New Zealand's largest university. It provides a channel for the worldwide dissemination of research outputs produced by the university's staff and students, including theses, journal papers, and reports.
ResearchSpace@Auckland was developed at the University of Auckland under the Institutional Repositories Aotearoa Project (Ira), a New Zealand-wide initiative. Built using DSpace open-source software, the repository was established to make research widely and immediately accessible. From 2011, electronic submission to ResearchSpace became compulsory for all completing PhD students. The initial PhD thesis collection was seeded by contacting authors of theses submitted since 2001 and inviting them to submit digital copies.
The repository holds PhD theses—the flagship of the collection—along with other Higher Degree theses, journal articles, book chapters, conference papers, working papers, and reports. All research disciplines covered at the University of Auckland are represented. Items are protected by copyright, with access conditions determined by the rights holders.
ResearchSpace@Auckland is freely accessible at researchspace.auckland.ac.nz. Deposited items are made available in accordance with publisher copyright policies. A separate Figshare-based data repository for the University of Auckland was launched in 2015 for research datasets.
