The Repositorio de Datos de Investigación de la Universidad de Chile is a research data repository that preserves, disseminates, and provides access to datasets generated by the university's academics and researchers. It is administered by the Dirección de Servicios de Información y Bibliotecas (SISIB) of the Universidad de Chile and is built on the Dataverse platform developed by Harvard University.
The repository was established as part of the Universidad de Chile's open science initiatives and was formally registered in re3data.org in 2019. It operates in alignment with the requirements of international journal publishers and research funding agencies that mandate the deposit of supporting data in recognised repositories. Publishers such as PLOS, eLife, Springer Nature, and IOPScience are among those that accept data deposited here to accompany publications.
The repository accepts multidisciplinary research datasets from affiliated researchers across the humanities and social sciences, life sciences, natural sciences, and engineering. As of recent records, it contains 22 dataverses and over 120 datasets. Each dataset receives a DOI (Digital Object Identifier) to facilitate citation and long-term discoverability. Datasets may be open, embargoed, or restricted, depending on ethical or other considerations.
The repository is freely accessible at datos.uchile.cl. Researchers affiliated with the Universidad de Chile can deposit data after creating an account. The platform supports a specialised set of metadata standards—including DataCite, DDI, Dublin Core, and OAI-ORE—enabling interoperability with other international data repositories.
