Brisbane, Queensland, Australia
Journalism at the University of Queensland (UQ) is taught as a major and course sequence within the Bachelor of Arts, offered through the School of Communication and Arts rather than as a standalone journalism school.
Coursework covers reporting, news writing, international and global journalism, mass communication, digital media, media law and ethics, and audio/video journalism. UQ's journalism area has particular research strengths in political communication and discourse, media representations of ethnic minorities and Indigenous people, citizen journalism, and visual journalism. The affiliated Centre for Communication and Social Change adds research depth on communication for social, economic, and technological development. The program maintains industry links with outlets including the ABC and hosts the Queensland Media Club and Brisbane Writers Festival as partners.
Journalism and Mass Communication is taught within UQ's School of Communication and Arts, part of the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
The Journalism and Mass Communication area sits within the School of Communication and Arts, under the Faculty of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
