Quay County Sun is a weekly newspaper covering Tucumcari, Logan and surrounding Quay County, New Mexico, owned by Clovis Media Inc.
Launched Nov. 2, 1975, by Santa Rosa publisher Ron Doyle as competition for the Tucumcari Daily News (which had begun in 1921 and went out of business by 1979); the Sun's name honors the earlier Tucumcari Sun, published 1907-1921. Portales News-Tribune Publishing Co. bought the Sun in the late 1970s or early 1980s. Southern Newspapers Inc. of Houston purchased it in 1981, and Freedom Newspapers of New Mexico acquired it in 1997. Clovis Media Inc. purchased the Sun, along with The Eastern New Mexico News and other Freedom Newspapers of New Mexico titles, in January 2012.
