Overview

The PSU Knowledge Bank (PSUKB) is the institutional repository of Prince of Songkla University (PSU) in southern Thailand, hosted by the Khunying Long Athakravisunthorn Learning Resources Center at the Hat Yai campus. It collects, preserves, and disseminates the academic output of PSU's faculty, students, and staff in digital format.

History and Founding

Prince of Songkla University was established in 1967 as the first university in southern Thailand, with the Hat Yai campus becoming the main campus in 1971. The university appointed the Board of PSU Knowledge Bank by order No. 1854/2551 on 1 October 2008. In January 2009, the PSUKB Working Group was established within the Khunying Long Athakravisunthorn Learning Resources Center. After evaluating available repository software, DSpace was selected in November 2009 as the open-source platform for managing the electronic archive. Phase 2 of the project launched in June 2010, with the repository progressively expanded since.

Collections and Holdings

The PSU Knowledge Bank contains theses, dissertations, research reports, research articles, textbooks, work manuals, schematic building and layout plans, and other university departmental works. Content covers all disciplines offered at PSU's five campuses, including medical sciences, engineering, pharmacy, natural sciences, humanities, social sciences, and arts. The collection is published in digital format conforming to international archiving standards, preserving materials as documents, images, audio, and multimedia files.

Access and Usage

The PSU Knowledge Bank is openly accessible online. PSU members may self-archive their works in full or partial text format, with copyrights retained by authors and publishers. All submitted works are accessible worldwide through the internet. The repository aims to create a network for developing information repositories and knowledge services at Prince of Songkla University and to facilitate global access to PSU research.
