Institutional Background

The Philippine Statistics Authority was established by Republic Act No. 10625 (the Philippine Statistical Act of 2013), signed into law on 12 September 2013 by President Benigno Aquino III. It was created by merging four major statistical agencies: the Bureau of Agricultural Statistics (BAS), the Bureau of Labor and Employment Statistics (BLES), the National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB), and the National Statistics Office (NSO). The PSA is an attached agency of the Department of Economy, Planning, and Development for policy coordination purposes.

PSA OpenSTAT organizes data into three major statistical domains: Demographic and Social Statistics (covering population, health, education, labor, and social protection); Economic Statistics (national accounts, trade, industry, agriculture, prices, and finance); and Environment and Multi-domain Statistics.
