Revitalizing local news is seen as key to healthy democracy

Press Forward grew out of a concern for the decline of fact-based, dependable local news and the belief that this threatens democracy. This organization raises funding for local news resources. They listen to individuals and organizations in the field, work to meet community information needs, and expand community-centered reporting.

Press Forward’s national coalition plans to invest more than $500 million to support newsroom production, help move newsrooms toward diversity, and work to expand independent journalists’ First Amendment protections.
