Overview

The PNU Repository is the institutional repository of Pusan National University (PNU) Library, located in Busan, Republic of Korea. It collects, preserves, and provides online access to the scholarly output produced by the PNU academic community, including theses, dissertations, research articles, conference papers, and other academic materials.

History and Institutional Background

Pusan National University was established in 1946 and is one of South Korea's leading national universities. The PNU Library adopted a subject library system in January 1999 to meet the demands of a specialized, information-based academic environment. The PNU Repository was subsequently developed as the university's open access institutional repository, operated through the library's digital services division. The library holds a collection of approximately 2,090,000 books, over 50,000 periodical types, and 30,000 domestic and foreign e-books.

Collections and Holdings

The PNU Repository contains theses and dissertations from PNU graduate programs, faculty research publications, conference proceedings, and other intellectual outputs of the university. Collections span all major disciplines offered by the university, including science and engineering, humanities and social sciences, arts, law, medical sciences, and nano and life sciences. The university has established cooperative agreements with over 530 universities and institutions in 58 countries, fostering a substantial research output deposited in the repository.

Access and Usage

The PNU Repository is accessible online at the library's digital collections portal. Materials are available to registered PNU community members and, where permitted, to the general public in open access format. The repository also supports interlibrary loan services and collaborative resource sharing through FRIC (Foreign Research Information Center) and other cooperative organizations.
