Biography

Scott Pickering is a Rhode Island journalist and editor who has spent more than two decades with East Bay Newspapers, the group of weekly newspapers covering Rhode Island's East Bay region, including the Bristol Phoenix and Westport Shorelines. He joined the company at age 24 and was named managing editor by publisher Matthew Hayes, going on to oversee editorial operations, manage a team of reporters, editors and photographers, and later serve on the company's management team; he also worked as a regional editor for Patch. Pickering continues to report for and edit East Bay Newspapers' Westport Shorelines and other titles, covering community events, local government and civic life in Bristol and the surrounding East Bay towns.
