The Phoenix City Clerk Department upholds public trust and protects local democracy by managing elections and annexations, preparing City Council agendas and meeting notices, maintaining public records, and processing liquor and regulated business licenses for the City of Phoenix, Arizona.
A 1936 inventory of the Phoenix city archives was compiled by the Historical Records Survey of the Works Progress Administration's Division of Women's and Professional Projects, documenting city departmental records of that era.
The Department administers the citywide Records Management Program and stores up to 29,000 cubic feet of inactive records in its Records Center. Public records available through the Department include City Council agendas, reports, results, and minutes; ordinances and resolutions; contracts; and election and campaign finance information.
The City Clerk Department is located on the 15th floor of Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington Street, Phoenix, Arizona, with current access by appointment only.
