Andy Pennington became CEO of Wisconsin Watch, a nonprofit statewide news organization, on March 2, 2026, succeeding retiring CEO George Stanley. He previously served as regional president of Adams Multimedia's Southern Wisconsin division, overseeing 10 news outlets and 150 employees, a role he began in February 2025. Before that, for seven years he led the Anchorage Daily News in Alaska as president and director of strategy after a new owner recruited him in 2018 to help rebuild the paper following its bankruptcy; under his leadership, the Anchorage Daily News won the 2020 Pulitzer Prize Gold Medal for Public Service for its investigation into lawlessness in Alaskan communities. Earlier in his career he was publisher of the Idaho State Journal in Pocatello and general manager of the Hometown News Group in Wisconsin, working in revenue leadership roles across Alaska, Idaho, Wisconsin, and Colorado. He holds a degree from Boise State University and resides in Wisconsin.
