Praveen Paritosh is a strategic research advisor at MLCommons and founder and chair of its DataPerf Research Working Group, which develops benchmarks for machine learning datasets. He spent 13 years at Google, from 2010 to 2023, as a senior research scientist and early member of Google's AI team, building the large-scale human curation processes for Freebase and the Google Knowledge Graph and leading research on AI benchmarking and human computation. Before Google, he was a knowledge scientist at Metaweb Technologies, which Google acquired in 2010. He holds a Ph.D. and M.S. in computer science, with a specialization in cognitive science, from Northwestern University, and a B.Tech. in chemical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. He advises the Common Crawl Foundation and founded the AI Bookie column for the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence's AI Magazine.
