The NUS University Archives is the official repository of institutional records and heritage materials of the National University of Singapore (NUS). Located at the Kent Ridge campus, the Archives preserves the administrative, academic, and historical records of NUS and its predecessor institutions, serving as the institutional memory of Singapore's oldest and largest university.
The National University of Singapore was formally established in 1980 through the merger of Nanyang University and the University of Singapore, though the institution's origins trace back to the founding of a medical school in 1905. The University Archives was established to manage the records heritage arising from this long institutional history. It collects materials from NUS and its predecessors including Raffles College, the University of Malaya, and the University of Singapore.
The University Archives holds administrative records, official publications, photographs, audiovisual materials, and artefacts documenting the history and development of NUS. Collections reflect the evolution of the institution from its colonial-era medical school origins to its current status as a leading global research university. The Archives also preserves records of notable alumni, academic staff, and significant institutional milestones.
The NUS University Archives is managed by the Office of the University Archivist. Researchers wishing to access archival materials should contact the office in advance to arrange appointments and make access requests. Some records may be subject to access restrictions in accordance with institutional policy.
