Overview

DR-NTU (Digital Repository of NTU) is the institutional repository of Nanyang Technological University (NTU) in Singapore. Managed by NTU Library, it serves as the primary open-access platform for capturing, storing, and showcasing the scholarly outputs of the NTU community, including journal articles, conference papers, theses, dissertations, and final year project reports.

History and Founding

NTU implemented an open access policy for its research publications with effect from 8 August 2011, requiring all faculty and staff to deposit peer-reviewed manuscripts into DR-NTU upon acceptance. The repository has since grown into a central resource supporting research visibility and collaboration. NTU Library also operates a companion repository, DR-NTU (Data), for research datasets.

Collections and Holdings

DR-NTU holds publications by NTU faculty, research staff, graduate students, and undergraduates across all disciplines represented at the university. Accepted content types include journal articles, conference papers, theses, final year project (FYP) reports, technical reports, book chapters, and conference proceedings organised or published by NTU entities. The repository assigns persistent URLs to all submissions, ensuring permanent online access.

A separate but related platform, DR-NTU (Data), is NTU's institutional open-access research data repository, built on the Harvard Dataverse open-source platform and certified as a Trustworthy Data Repository by the CoreTrustSeal Standards and Certification Board.

Access and Usage

DR-NTU is freely accessible to the public at dr.ntu.edu.sg. NTU community members with valid network accounts can deposit materials directly. External users may browse and download open-access content without registration. The repository complies with open access requirements from Singapore funding agencies including A*STAR, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and the National Research Foundation.
